Reliving Some Old Memories

I'm curious if anyone is reading this right now. To anyone that is: Hello and welcome to my 8-year-old page from high school. Blogger has changed a lot since I was on here last, roughly 7 years ago. I was randomly thinking about Blogger and remembered that I had a page in high school, so I came to look at all the older posts. Though I have to say, the layout looks more like Gmail with an ability to add notes instead of seeing it on a webpage. I also noticed that there's a bunch of stuff from ChaCha (an old human-based search engine) since I used to log in to it through Blogger. I hope that doesn't show up on the page if I can access it. Anyways, in the spirit of things and as the most likely last post of this blog, here's the news:

So much has happened since 2010, Obama was re-elected in 2012, while Donald Trump (who would've thought) was elected in 2016, becoming the 45th President of the United States. Since then, there's been a media firestorm surrounding him, from the way he talks in his speeches, his policy decisions, the bills and executive orders he's signed, and most (in)famously, the explosive tweets on his Twitter page. His most recent news was a tweet on his page, bragging about how his "nuclear button" is a lot bigger than North Korea's. It's a true statement, but not one that will help ease any tensions with North Korea. We'll see what happens with that.

Net Neutrality was brought in shortly after my last post then repealed last month in a 3-2 vote. Ajit Pai, the current FCC Chairman, came into this knowing that he would piss off a lot of people, since they'd rather trust the government than the private sector. However, instead of promoting active discussion with those people, he made two videos mocking them. Video 1 Video 2 The repeal hasn't taken effect yet, so we don't know what's going to happen next. Hopefully I or others won't be charged $25 just to access this very basic blog page.

In weather news, a weak polar vortex has been dumping bitterly cold temperatures, strong winds, and snow to most of the northern U.S. for the past 10 days. This pattern will continue until Sunday, when temperatures will return to a semi-normal 28° F. The northeast isn't in the clear, though, as a "bomb cyclone," or a system with a rapid drop in pressure over 24 hours,  will hit them on Thursday, leaving blizzard-like conditions and potentially hurricane-force winds in its wake. Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be another Hurricane Sandy.

Finally, in local sports news, the Lions front office fired their old head coach Jim Caldwell and are looking for a replacement. Hopefully this means less mediocre seasons, but knowing the Lions, that probably won't stop until the Fords sell the team. While on the subject of Michigan teams, Jim Harbaugh, the current University of Michigan football coach, is in a bit of hot water after fans are concerned about the mediocrity of his teams so far. Michigan was the only Big Ten team to lose a bowl game this season, losing to South Carolina 26-19 after blowing a 19-3 lead. This spoiled the chance of an undefeated bowl season for the Big Ten that hasn't been done since 1998 and gave Michigan an 8-5 season. Jim's next season will be watched very closely as it may end up being his last if he doesn't turn things around with the offense.

Well, that's the news and the last post for this blog. Thanks to those that still read this (Mr. Porter, if you see this, thank you for giving me the inspiration to start this.) and I hope you all have a wonderful new year! Now, for the last time, ¡Adiós!

Hello, hello, hello...

Hi everyone!

Sorry that it's been so long since I last posted. I was in the Commons for quite some time during lunch. Anyways, here's today's news:

Today, the governor of Indiana has decided to support keeping the locks open, which could allow the Asian carp to invade the Great Lakes. Indiana opposed this earlier, but the governor thought only of his state as the closing of the locks would flood some areas in Indiana. That shouldn't be an excuse to save yourself while other Great Lakes states, especially Michigan, suffer.

In other news, Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili died after falling of his sled at high speed and running into a pole. Chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation were given to him but they pronounced him dead. How tragic and just before the Olympics. So sad...

Well, that's it for today. Have a good weekend.
¡Adios!

Relaxation...NOT!!!

Hello everyone!

Sorry I haven't been posting lately, I was busy all of last week. I still have an outside book report for English that I need to get done, but that won't take me long. Here's today's news:

You all remember the attempted Christmas Day bombing, right? Well, the perpetrator, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was pleaded not guilty in federal court. It's ridiculous because he tried to blow up a plane with a potentially dangerous weapon of mass destruction. The story goes on to say that he was not on any alcohol or drugs and he said little in court. What they should have done is have him given to the military for interrogation and what his links are to al-Qaeda.

In other news, President Barack Obama has decided to side with his home state of Illinois in the lawsuit against allowing the locks and waterways leading into the Great Lakes to be closed and allow Asian carp to invade the Great Lakes. I think that he is very oblivious to the fact that the Asian carp will destroy billions of dollars in economic and tourist activity. It's completely ridiculous!

Well, that's the news for this week and I probably won't post for a while so have a good week!

2 days 'til Winter Break!!!

Hello everyone!

Today, I'm feeling very bored because, one, I have no homework so far and two, I'm running out of headlines for the posts. Oh well, it happens... Here's today's news:

In Massachusetts, a boy was sent home because of (what his father claims) a drawing he did for school work. The drawing is a stick Jesus hanging on the cross. I think that it is against the Constitution to do such a thing as to go beyond separation of church and state. I know that the boy was probably drawing for the coming holiday, but I think he's got the wrong one in his head.

In other news, after a domestic dispute, Chris Henry, the receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals, died after falling off a truck. He was only 26.

Well that's the news for today and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Today is Wednesday!?

Hello everyone!

Sorry that I haven't posted in while. I was busy or in the Commons. Anyways, here's today's news:

Iran has tested its longest-ranged missile, the Sajjil-2 today, which is capable of hitting Israel and parts of southern Europe. This is a very serious issue as the U.S. is trying to stop Iran's nuclear weapons program. Iran claims that the program is for energy, not for a weapon. This missile is their most advanced, since it claims to be indestructible and it runs on solid fuel. Iran has also said that they will launch the missile if the U.S. or Israel gets in the way.

In other news, a lot of incidents with teachers and elementary school students have popped up this week. For example, a teacher in New Jersey told one of her third grade students to put away her Bible, which the student was reading during quiet time. The school apologized, saying that the teacher made a mistake, since reading the Bible is allowed. Another incident is that a teacher in Milwaukee told her first grade student to stop playing with her beaded braids. The student continued to do so and the teacher told her to come up to the front of the class, then the teacher cut one of them off. The school apologized and the school board is deciding whether or not to fire the teacher. The student was moved to another class.

How ridiculous is this!? I'm surprised they would even do such a thing. Oh well, it's their problem...

Well, that's it for today. I don't know if I will post something new later this week nor during Winter Break so have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

T.G.I.F.

Hello everyone!

Today, Australia is issuing a shipping alert due to an iceberg heading their way. The iceberg itself was broken off a decade ago before it drifted north. Sounds cool to see this once-in-a-lifetime event. In other news, some guy from Pennsylvania tried to steal $20 million in paintings from a local museum. What's surprising is that the museum was owned by his father Frank Frazetta. It's surprising how people are going to great lengths just to fill their greed of money. Wow...

Other than that, there's not a lot of homework tonight and it's not really that difficult. Also, I will not post on the weekends because the good stuff is during the week. Have a great weekend and T.G.I.F.!

Thursday's News

Welcome to another exciting post of The News Pages!

Today, Forsythe Middle School and Wines, Haisley, and Dicken Elementary Schools are closed due to no power. It's too bad for me because we use a wind turbine for generating electricity and other things. Oh well, it pays to be green. In other news, I checked out a story from Fox News and it turns out that Climate Change Scientists actually admitted trashing the raw temperature data to which their predictions are based off of. That means that there could be no such thing as global warming. I knew it would come to this someday...

Other than that, English is the tough one tonight. I need to catch up on the Animal Farm questions.
